Eight Steps to a Garment
Worth Wearing for a Lifetime
A better fit is not guessed. It is measured, shaped, and refined — through a process designed to feel unhurried and entirely personal.
Initial Consultation
We listen before we measure.
Every commission begins with a conversation. We want to understand your lifestyle, your occasions, the garments in your wardrobe you love most, and the ones you wish fit differently. This is not a sales appointment — it is the beginning of a collaboration.
Style Discovery
Finding the shape that suits you.
We explore silhouettes, lapel widths, button stances, pleats, and fit styles. We may show you reference images and previous work. Nothing is decided yet — this stage is about possibility. By the end, we have a clear picture of what we are making and why.
Fabric Selection
The cloth defines the garment.
We guide you through our curated fabric library — wools, linens, cottons, tweeds, and specialist cloths sourced from the finest British and Italian mills. We discuss weight, texture, drape, and occasion. A sample is cut and assessed in natural light before any decision is made.
Measurements
18 measurements. Nothing assumed.
Our master tailors take a full set of measurements: chest, waist, seat, shoulders, sleeves, back length, and more. We note posture, how you carry yourself, and any physical asymmetries. These notes become the foundation of your personal pattern — kept on file for every future commission.
Pattern Creation
Where the garment begins to exist.
Using your measurements and style notes, we draft your personal pattern. For bespoke clients, this is drawn from scratch. No template. No average. Your pattern is archived and refined with every garment we make for you. This is the most technically complex and time-intensive stage.
First Fitting
The garment takes shape.
At your first fitting, you wear a basted version of the garment — loosely assembled so every element can be assessed and adjusted. We examine the collar roll, shoulder line, chest width, dart placement, and trouser break. Chalk marks are made. Corrections are discussed.
Refinements
Precision by the millimetre.
Between fittings, the garment is re-cut, re-sewn, and further developed based on your feedback. Bespoke commissions typically require two to three fittings. Made-to-measure suits often require one. Each round of refinement brings the garment closer to the shape you envisioned.
Final Delivery
A garment that is entirely yours.
Your completed garment arrives pressed, finished, and presented with care. We walk through every detail together — the drape, the buttonholes, the lining, the overall silhouette. Care instructions are provided. Adjustments are always available. This is the beginning of a relationship, not the end of a transaction.
