Twenty-Five Years of
Quiet Precision
A Studio Built on Listening
Thornton & Co. was founded in 1998 by Edward Thornton, following seven years of training on Savile Row. He opened the studio with a single belief: that a perfectly made garment begins not with fabric or scissors, but with listening.
For the first three years, the studio took only ten commissions per month. Deliberately. Each one was studied, discussed, refined, and completed before the next began. That discipline shaped everything that followed.
Today, Thornton & Co. works with clients from across the United Kingdom and internationally, with a team of three master tailors, a curated fabric library, and a studio on Savile Row that has not changed its approach since the day it opened.
We do not use the word "bespoke" lightly. Every commission in our studio is made from scratch, for one person — shaped by their measurements, their movement, and their intention for the garment.
What We Believe
Precision, Not Perfection
We do not chase perfection — we chase precision. A garment that fits perfectly for you may not fit perfectly for someone else. Our standards are personal, not universal.
Time Taken Well
Good tailoring cannot be rushed. We take the time that each commission deserves — and we never promise a faster turnaround at the expense of the finished result.
The Relationship, Always
The best tailors know their clients over years, not appointments. We keep detailed records of every measurement, preference, and commission — so every garment we make for you is informed by what came before.
Honest Craft
We will tell you honestly which fabric suits your lifestyle, which cut flatters your build, and which shortcuts we refuse to take. That honesty is part of the service.
